Shirleen Davies’ Character Interview
Bella: What is the name of the book where we’ll find you? Can you tell us a little about it?
Pierce MacLaren: I’m Pierce MacLaren and my story is told in Wilder than the Rest, book six in the MacLarens of Fire Mountain series. It’s available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Smashwords.
The family ranch is in Fire Mountain, Arizona. My other, more exciting job is working as a Secret Service Agent through the U.S. Treasury Department. My skills are diverse and my love for adventure high.
Bella: Tell us a little about yourself. Where do you fit into the story? What should we know about you?
Pierce MacLaren: My partner is Mollie Jamison, and she is a headstrong, obstinate agent who causes nothing but trouble. We’ve been assigned a new case that forces us into close proximity to solve a suspected crime. Much of the story takes place in 1870s San Francisco, a time when the town had a colorful reputation.
Bella: What do you think of the author? Be honest. We won’t tell.
Pierce MacLaren: She’s a real pushy sort, always trying to get me to open up and explore how I feel, especially regarding my feelings for Mollie, whom I mostly just tolerate. I wish she’d leave me alone to my own mental ramblings, but I now accept that’s never going to happen.
Bella: How do you feel about the story you’re in?
Pierce MacLaren: It’s perfect for me. Lots of action, strong people, evil bad guys, and occasional visits from others in the MacLaren clan.
Bella: Do you like being a character in the book?
Pierce MacLaren: I do. It’s not often I get to live in a grand mansion, eat at fancy restaurants, and have the freedom to do just about anything I want. Plus, the story is a continuation of my family’s life and how we all came together.
Bella: How do you see your future? Without giving anything away about the story, naturally.
Pierce MacLaren: Living half my life as an agent and the other half as a rancher is perfect—as long as I don’t have to continue with Mollie as my partner. I don’t have plans to change anything except return to Fire Mountain, and the ranch, at least until I’m given another assignment.
Bella: What do you know about your author’s plans? Can we expect to see you in any future stories?
Pierce MacLaren: I’m not certain. You never know what will happen next, or what her plans are. Guess you’ll just have to keep in touch to find out.
Bella: Let’s say they make a movie about this book. Who do you want to play you, and why?
Pierce MacLaren: That’s a fair question. The Australian actor, Liam Hemsworth, seems to fit the character’s personality. I’m a bit rough, very charming, and love to have fun. I believe these are traits Hemsworth could handle with little effort.

About the Book
Pierce is a rough man, but happy in his new life as a Special Agent. Tasked with defending the rights of the federal government, Pierce is a cunning gunslinger always ready to tackle the next job. That is, until he finds out that his new job involves Mollie Jamison.
Mollie can be a lot to handle. Headstrong and independent, Mollie has chosen a life of danger and intrigue guaranteed to prove her liquor-loving father wrong. She will make something of herself, and no one, not even arrogant Pierce MacLaren, will stand in her way.
A secret mission brings them together, but will their attraction to each other prove deadly in their hunt for justice? The payoff for success is high, much higher than any assignment either has taken before. But will the damage to their hearts and souls be too much to bear? Can Pierce and Mollie find a way to overcome their misgivings and work together as one?
