On August 4, Bellator: An Anthology of Warriors of Space & Magic released and this is the third of several character interviews from the short stories in it! I hope that you enjoy meeting the characters as much as I did!

A Chat with Gavin

Bella: What is the name of the book where we’ll find you? Can you tell us a little about it?
Gavin: I can be found in the short story, “Outside the Walls,” within the anthology, Bellator. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Bella: Tell us a little about yourself. Where do you fit into the story? What should we know about you?
Gavin: My name is Gavin, and I’m a necromancer. I am the captain of Lady Eleanor’s personal guard, assigned to protect Her Ladyship should the war cross the mountain pass into our homeland. I would have preferred to accompany Lord Zander, to fight by his side, but I saw the…light, shall we say…in staying behind. If the Battle Mages failed, well, someone would need to stand between the onslaught and our home.

Bella: What do you think of the author? Be honest. We won’t tell.
Gavin: Well, there’s two of them you know. They’re both quite exciting ladies, and I’m pretty sure that one of them was making eyes at me. I’m sorry ladies; I’m already taken.

Bella: How do you feel about the story you’re in?
Gavin: You know, it’s not bad as stories go. I don’t want to say too much, as I don’t want to spoil the fun, but I had way more exciting adventures in my younger days. Although, I can’t think of any other quest that was quite so important, or memorable. I’m proud to have been a part of it.

Bella: Do you like being a character in the book?
Gavin: I do indeed! I don’t think the story would have gone quite the same way without me.

Bella: How do you see your future? Without giving anything away about the story, naturally.
Gavin: Well, at the end of this story my future is looking pretty bright, which can be an odd statement coming from a necromancer. I think I may be settling down for a bit, but one never can tell. *winks*

Bella: What do you know about your author’s plans? Can we expect to see you in any future stories?
Gavin: Do you know, I’m not really sure. I’ve heard rumors there may be more tales yet to tell, but you know how rumors can be. Never listen to the whispers in the shadows, you can never be quite certain where such whispers originate.

Bella: Let’s say they make a movie about this book. Who do you want to play you, and why?
Gavin: Ok, don’t laugh. (It’s never good to laugh at a necromancer, after all.) I would choose…Prince Charming, Josh Dallas from Once Upon a Time. I think he has the pretty boy look and mischievous swagger to pull it off.

About the Book

Science Fiction and Fantasy, two genres that are both unalike and inextricably entwined, stretching the imagination to the expansive boundaries of time, space, and magic. These boundaries are often filled with warriors and war, fights and causes worth fighting for, and that’s what you’ll find in this anthology.

From fighting aliens in space to demons in a world of magic, you’ll find many stories to suit your starship’s entertainment collection or your favorite bard at the local tavern…or just your imagination here and now. Sit back and enjoy twelve stories from authors both familiar and new!

100% of the proceeds to be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
